Proca stars
Etevaldo dos Santos Costa Filho (Universidade de Lisboa)

In Einstein-Maxwell theory, there are no solitons or balanced neutral multi-black hole solutions, and black holes have “no hair.” However, in Einstein-Klein-Gordon and Einstein-Proca models, involving ultralight bosonic matter, a richer variety of solutions, including solitonic and black holes, emerge with intriguing dynamics. Spherical Proca Stars (PSs) were considered stable ground states, but new evidence shows they are excited states. The true ground state consists of static, prolate PSs. While spherical PSs resist spherical perturbations, they eventually transition into prolate PSs through non-spherical dynamics and gravitational cooling. Thus, PSs illustrate how stability and staticity imply non-sphericity in relativistic stars coupled to simple field theory in General Relativity.
